David Fincher to Direct Quentin Tarantino’s 'The Adventures of Cliff Booth'
Updated: Aug 19

David Fincher is set to direct The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a follow-up to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Written by Tarantino, the film moves the setting to 1977—capturing a whole new era of Hollywood—with Brad Pitt reprising his Oscar-winning role as stuntman Cliff Booth. The stacked ensemble cast also features Peter Weller, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, and Carla Gugino.
Fincher will direct under his extended first-look deal with Netflix, which was originally signed in November 2020. Tarantino initially planned to direct Pitt in his 10th and supposedly final film, The Movie Critic—a project centered on a 1970s film reviewer for a pop-culture tabloid. However, after scrapping those plans, the script evolved into The Adventures of Cliff Booth. It’s a rare occurrence to see a blockbuster auteur helm a sequel born from another visionary filmmaker's universe, making this one of the most anticipated releases to watch.
