Michael B. Jordan in Talks for 'Miami Vice' Reboot as Ricardo Tubbs
Updated: Aug 19
Michael B. Jordan is in early talks to star as TV detective Ricardo Tubbs in Joseph Kosinski’s upcoming Miami Vice reboot. Scheduled to hit theaters on August 6, 2027, the period piece will draw inspiration from the iconic 1980s TV series and capture the neon-tinted world of mid-1980s Miami. The role of Tubbs’ partner, Sonny Crockett, has yet to be cast.
Audiences last saw these characters in Michael Mann’s 2006 film adaptation, which received lukewarm reviews for its underdeveloped story and perceived lack of chemistry between the leads.

Miami Vice follows police detectives James “Sonny” Crockett and Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs as they work together to go undercover, fight crime, and even take down drug dealers.
